Freedom – Women in Erotica

Today is supposed to be a celebration of freedom… A conversation I had this morning reminded me of this piece I initially did for Current TV, but I wasn’t willing to add the silly B roll stuff they wanted of women having tea together to show a community because it wasn’t about a ‘girl’s club’ it was about the work and what they had to say. The work is super PG because of this.

It showed at the National Queer Arts Festival in SF & while my opinions have changed on some of these things, I was reminded of some of the things Candida Royalle said which are still true today, particularly how it’s very hip for companies & male producers to pretend that they’re behind women directing, etc, yet they’re telling them what to do, they’re under their thumb
