“Skin’s 1st Suspension” to Screen in Brazil

My short film, “Skin’s 1st Suspension” will be showing at the Pop Porn Festival in Brazil June 1-3! It’s previously screened at Cinekink, the Keil Fetisch Film Festival and the Berlin Porn Film Festival.

This film is very different from my usual stuff. I go to festivals as often as I can and I kept seeing “films” that I really hated, like one that had “bondage” (or a form of the word) in the title but the girl could have sneezed and gotten out of those ropes. In general I hate art films that have no substance or arc.

So I did this as an experiment. I knew the other films I had submitted to Cinekink that year were going to be too extreme for them, even though “Masturbation Roulette” had been screened in Berlin a few months before. Cinekink shies away from anything edgy which is a big part of why I stopped submitting work to them. I don’t want to make safe fluff serving as giggle inducing titillation for the mostly vanilla masses.

Anyway.. I made something frilly and pretty with no character arc, no plot, no deeper meaning and people loved it. Because I can’t really do something with no psychological element, I chose floaty dreamy music by Jillian Ann for the soundtrack and slowed down the swinging of the suspension so her long white nightgown flowed. It really is beautiful and while I don’t think it’s an exciting film, I am proud of it and believe it was successful in creating the headspace one feels in a suspension, especially in one’s first suspension – the nervousness, the excitement, the feeling when one finally lets go…
